Burberry Spring/Summer 2020
Introducing Evolution, the Spring/Summer 2020 runway collection. Captured in a series of images by Inez and Vinoodh, the cast includes Kendall, Bella and Gigi Hadid and He Cong. The campaign shines a spotlight on a new Burberry attitude, where classic meets the eccentric – a very British contrast. Unconventional poses and animal-inspired shapes and silhouettes created by the cast reinforce both Thomas Burberry’s and Riccardo Tisci’s recognition of the power and symbolism of animals.

Riccardo Tisci’s third runway collection for the house – a celebration of new house codes and a juxtaposition of heritage and modernity.
For the Burberry woman, sleek tailoring is transformed with cinched-waist blazers, structured box-pleat skirt suits and double-pleat trousers, whilst hems are embellished with fringing and draped chains. Hand-painted collages of animals play out across billowing silks – refined and elegant. Contrasting corset detailing, logo-embroidered tulle and step-through skirts have a sportswear influence. Evening wear, in a muted Burberry palette of beige and black, is a marriage of simplicity and elegance – embellished with crystal mesh and hand-tiered ostrich feathers.

‘I have been working for a few seasons to define a new identity and visual language for this house. This campaign feels like
the beginning and I wanted to celebrate the men and women who represent Burberry – some who have been a long-standing
part of my career and others who have started this Burberry journey with me. Together they capture the sophistication and
attitude at the heart of the house today.’

with Vintage check lining.
The iconic trench coat is reconstructed with silk panels, floor-sweeping silhouettes, sculpted sleeves and crystal-ring piercings – a classic shape updated with Riccardo Tisci’s new vision and a distinctly fresh runway approach.
The collection sees the introduction of new signature bag shapes, the contemporary Pocket Bag – inspired by the archive and stamped with our Horseferry print, and Anne – an equestrian-inspired silhouette detailed with Thomas Burberry Monogram hardware and leather bridle straps. In contrast, Lola – the playful, unstructured little sister of The TB Bag – returns in new bum bag iterations and fabrics.

For men, the collection continues a new off-duty aesthetic: striped rugby shirts meet sports-style shorts with a tailored twist and parka coats and hoodies are refreshed with zip detailing and rib-knit panels. The English-fit suit – a tailored silhouette created by Riccardo Tisci – is reimagined for the season in dark to soft tonal shades with crystal pinstripes. Our outerwear icons – the trench and the car coat – are articulated in new textures, from knitted panels to technical wool, whilst the classic T-shirt is transformed with cut-out details and crystal mesh.
